Why choose boarding at UCST schools

Boarders throughout the UK and the rest of the world make our schools their home and us their family.

We are proud that our five boarding schools maintain their tradition of excellence and provide outstanding benefits:

Cyan square Our boarders learn to live together and support one another
They develop deep friendships that often last a lifetime. They also benefit academically from structured prep sessions each evening during the school week, and boarders help to support one another in their studies.

Cyan square Our boarders have remarkable teachers and achieve excellent results
The quality of teaching and learning at our schools is outstanding. Across our independent schools, an average of 92% of our pupils gained five or more GCSEs (including English and Maths) at A* - C grades in 2009. This compares with a national average of 59.5% for independent schools. On average, more than 75% of our pupils gained A and B grades at A Level in 2009. Our boarders typically achieve even better results. For example, our A Level boarders typically gain a higher percentage of A and B grades and thus a higher percentage attend top universities.

Cyan square Our schools are renowned for providing outstanding pastoral care
From help wtih homework to personal advice and guidance, our boarders are extremely well looked after. Most of our boarding staff live on site and they undertake training approved by the Boarding Schools Association (BSA) to ensure they provide outstanding pastoral care.

Cyan square Our schools offer a myriad of extra-curricular activities to enrich
  the overall experience
From surfing at Bournemouth Collegiate School to riding at Hampshire Collegiate School, our schools offer a varied and exciting array of extra-curricular activities which enhance our boarders' experience.

Cyan square  Our boarders are part of a diverse community of day and boarding pupils, as well as British and international pupils
Our boarders benefit from daily contact with day pupils and the local community. We prepare out pupils to become confident and active global citizens with the skills they need to excel at university and beyond.

Cyan square Our boarders enjoy longer than average holidays
Therefore, our boarders are able to return home to their families and friends to enjoy their holidays.

Cyan square Our schools offer the perfect blend of tradition and modernity
Our boarders benefit from both the historic links our schools have with their local communities and their modern boarding accommodation and facilities. Our historic links include Lincoln Minster School's link with Lincoln Cathedral, Ashford School's link with the city of Canterbury and Hampshire Collegiate School's link with Florence Nightingale's ancestral home and nearby Romsey.
